A holiday update on the state of the Bit.Trip universe

It’s-a me, Commander Video!

The Bit.Trip games have slowly but surely made their way to platforms other than their original home on the Nintendo Wii. This week, the third title in the acclaimed retro-inspired series, Bit.Trip Voidreleased on Steam, while Bit.Trip Saga, the 3DS compilation of all six games, went digital as apart of the Nintendo eShop update.

But what’s the point of reminiscing about the games yesteryear when we can pine for the Bit.Trip of tomorrow. Bit.Trip Presents: Runner 2: Future Legend of Rhythm Alien is coming to PlayStation 3, Windows, Mac, Linux, Wii U, and Xbox 360 early next year. The game is now available for pre-order on Steam, which includes a free copy of the original Bit.Trip Runner to enjoy in the meantime.

That game features some interesting voice talent in the way of Charles Martinet, who is most famously known for his work as Mario. Gaijin Games founder Alex Neuse recently spoke with Joystiq about Runner 2‘s high-profile narrator, where he revealed hopes that Martinet will evoke a feeling akin to Leonard Nimoy’s work on Dreamcast cult classic Seaman.
