Blacklight: Tango Down film, comic still in the works

When Zombie Studios revealed its first-person shooter Blacklight: Tango Down last year, it also unveiled its ambitious multimedia plans. Along with the game would come a comic book tie-in, as well as a full-blown Hollywood movie based in the Blacklight universe.

After a long period of silence and just recently revealing the game as a digital download, are those plans still in place? According to the game’s lead designer and project lead Jared Gerritzen, everything is still moving along as planned.

Gerritzen says the comic book, which he penned alongside Zombie Studios writer Ian Stephens, is “under works now.” As a fan of comics, Gerritzen says he had a blast writing a story that has ties to the upcoming game, yet wasn’t constrained by its narrative.

As for the film, a new company — called Blacklight Transmedia — was formed in the process of selling the picture, and “has taken care of the Hollywood side of the universe.”

“I got the movie script a few months back,” Gerritzen reveals, “it’s turning out really good as well. Having different ways to tell your story is extremely helpful, and will give plans plenty of stuff to dig into.”

While you wait, dig into my interview for more information about the Blacklight: Tango Down PlayStation Network, Xbox LIVE Arcade, and PC digital download title.
