Miles and Peter can meet each other while actively playing Spider-Man 2

Oh, hey! Didn't see you there!

In a recent episode of GamerTag Radio, Insomniac Games’ associate animation director James Ham said that players will be able to find the opposite Spider-Man — if they’re playing as Peter, then they’ll run into Miles, and vice versa — and join them in fighting crime in Spider-Man 2.

“There are times where you can be swinging throughout the city and you can see the other Spider-Man sometimes actively doing something or stopping a crime,” Ham said in the interview.

In that same vein, Ham said the other Spider-Man can also find you and join you in fighting crime. It was made clear by senior animation director Bobby Coddington that switching between Peter and Miles will also be present in this sequel, though “there’s key narrative moments where switching [between Miles and Peter] is something that is available,” Coddington said.

We were recently shown a first look at the open world of Spider-Man 2, which included new and unique ways of traversal, the utilization of the PlayStation 5’s hardware to reduce load time, and the expanded city, which has practically doubled in size in comparison with the city from the first Spider-Man. This, paired with the fact that we can stumble across a fellow Spider-Bro whilst on the prowl for criminals is making the upcoming sequel even more anticipated.

Spider-Man 2 is set to release on October 20 exclusively for the PlayStation 5.
