I originally intended to hold off playing It Takes Two until it was included with EA Play, but word-of-mouth snowballed shortly after launch and I was too into co-op gaming to wait any longer. I don’t regret it! If you’ve been patiently waiting all along, now’s your chance. You can play It Takes Two with your EA Play or Xbox Game Pass Ultimate subscription.

The full game is a part of EA Play and specifically Game Pass Ultimate (which includes EA Play) as of November 4, 2021. It’s on PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S.

At the low end, you can sub to EA Play for $4.99 for just one month, get in, and get out.

So, is it worth your time? It Takes Two is arguably one of the year’s best games, and as an exclusively co-op experience, that makes it one of the year’s best co-op games, too. There’s local and online multiplayer support, and if you don’t have someone nearby to buddy up with, you can team up with a long-distance partner using a free Friend’s Pass.

While the story isn’t my favorite part, I appreciate that Hazelight Studios tried to do something interesting with its protagonists Cody and May, an on-the-rocks husband-and-wife duo. I also respect the challenge that It Takes Two is willing to throw down — both players need to show up and be vigilant during hectic boss fights and tricky puzzle-platformer sequences. There’s plenty of care-free downtime while you explore and goof off with your partner. In short, it’s kind of got a bit of everything. It’s multi-genre.

EA keeps greenlighting these wacky Hazelight co-op titles, and I’m here for it.

I’ll also give Unravel Two a nod since it’s in the EA Play library as well. You don’t need to have gone through the first Unravel. While it’s a bit more traditional, the co-op is fun.
