A new report has emerged from PSVR Without Parole, indicating some details about an upcoming PlayStation VR headset. This came from a conference held to brief developers on the headset, which UploadVR independently corroborates took place.

The specs detailed line up with some of UploadVR’s previous reporting on the next Sony headset. That means 4000×2040 pixel resolution (or 2000×2040 for each eye), as well as eye-tracking support.

PSVR Without Parole’s video also claims the device—codenamed NGVR or Next-Generation Virtual Reality—uses a Fresnel OLED display with a 110-degree field of view. They also say haptics in the headset are a thing, and that controllers will be bundled in with the headset, with both adaptive triggers and capacitive touch sensors.

You can check out more of PSVR Without Parole’s report above, which includes some more discussion on a reported angle for future VR games to be hybrid, or playable on a flatscreen or in PlayStation VR. Their report also says the new headset won’t be launching in 2021, but that details will be revealed early next year.

It’s always been a little tough to judge where VR is at, as game-changing experiences like Half-Life: Alyx shake up the scene and other bits of news make things look shaky. The prospect of next-gen consoles powering VR is certainly intriguing, and Sony’s headset was one of the easier, cheaper ways to get into the market, even if other headset developers are now upping their game.

I suppose we’ll know what plans are in a little bit, if this report holds true. If these hints, plus some of the other indicators we’ve had over the years, point towards what Sony is working on, it could be pretty interesting to see.
