The mobile version of Lumines launches next month

September 1

Lumines has had a storied 12-year history, and after a four-year hiatus since the (good) Vita game, we’re getting a new version. Before you get too excited, know that it’s another mobile edition (there are at least three ports already, as they were one of the first to smash into the mobile scene), set to launch on Android and iOS on September 1 for $2.99.

I can hear the groans, but still! It has potential, and will feature both classic and new tracks, while maintaining a portrait-style setup and the same gameplay. Plus, both Android and iOS are a bigger market than the Vita at this point, and might ensure the continued existence of the series.
