Is the New 3DS coming to America or is Reggie trolling us?

You know, the one with the backplates

The Nintendo of America boss, Reggie Fils-Aimé, has seemingly teased the release of the standard-size New 3DS for America.

“We’ve certainly taken note of all of the readers and consumers that expressed desire for the base model,” Reggie stated in a discussion with Kotaku. “Not going to make any promises but, you know, I would suggest to your readers that they stay tuned and maybe some special SKUs (models) might show up.”

Knowing Nintendo, these will probably be limited-edition models without the cool customizable backplates that are available in other regions. I hope that doesn’t end up being the case, so I can get one of the clear backplates and print out a backplate with the Monster energy logo, Yoshi’s ass, and a nice set of boobs. I’m classy like that.
