Capcom’s re-releasing Resident Evil 4, 5, and 6 this year

Almost a year ago, Capcom told investors that it wanted to continue the trend of putting out old titles on newer platforms. Last November, it seemed as if a re-release of Resident Evil 6 was definitely in the works — a move that would be consistent with its aforesaid strategy. But, it looks as if the plans are significantly more ambitious.

We’ve just learned that Capcom will re-release Resident Evil 4, 5, and 6 this year on PlayStation 4 and Xbox One. Resident Evil 6 will launch first on March 29; after that, Resident Evil 5 is scheduled for sometime in the summer, and Resident Evil 4 is set for the fall.

The games are individually priced at $19.99 each, and they come with all add-ons and DLC. A physical edition will eventually be available in the Americas, most certainly after the eventual release of Resident Evil 4.

Curiously, Capcom didn’t make note of what kind of re-releases these are. The original Resident Evil HD version came out early last year (and was wildly successful), so it’s reasonable to think they’re probably remasters. Obviously, Resident Evil 4 would be the game to benefit most from this, seeing as it first launched on PlayStation 2 and GameCube. But, there’s the possibility that these are just straight ports. Whatever the case may be, a lot of old Resident Evil is releasing again this year, and that’s going to thrill a lot of people.
