Not to be outdone by its Sony counterpart, Microsoft’s Xbox is now suffering an apparently major outage of its services to kick off the week.

Thankfully, Xbox Support says it’s aware of the issue and is “working on it,” which does little to assuage players who are looking to access their games today. So if you’re having trouble connecting, you’re not alone.

This Xbox issue comes just a few days after widespread PlayStation Network problems that left PS5 gamers in the lurch for many hours, and both are a sad byproduct of the always-online and digital landscape we now live in as gamers. Massive, disruptive outages like these are thankfully pretty rare, but never any less frustrating when you finally find some free time to kick back and try out a new game or return to an old favorite.

The worst part about the ongoing problem is that players are currently unable to access owned, offline games. That’s a very scary reality that we’re in when it comes to gaming, and it appears that this will only get worse in the future.

Hopefully the Xbox issues get sorted quickly, but either way, you can stay tuned in to the Xbox Status page to see what’s being affected and when it’s fixed.
