Electronic Arts: Titanfall never coming to PS4

Exclusive to Microsoft platforms ‘for the life of the title’

Titanfall will never come to PlayStation 4, Electronic Arts CFO Blake Jorgensen revealed today during a conference call with investors.

Many believed Respawn Entertainment’s first project would eventually make its way to Sony’s next generation console after a period of timed exclusivity. That isn’t the case says Jorgensen, asserting the first-person shooter will be exclusive to Xbox One, Xbox 360, and Windows PC “for the life of the title.”

Following the announcement, Respawn boss Vince Zampella confirmed the title was always planned to be a Microsoft exclusive at launch. However, it sounds like the developer may have wanted to bring it to other platforms somewhere down the line.

Zampella and his team “only found out recently” that due to an EA deal the game would be permanently chained to Xbox platforms and Windows PC. For his part, Zampella says he still intends on releasing games for PlayStation 4, “just not the first Titanfall.”
