Browncoats: New Arkham Origins trailer shows off Firefly

The roof, the roof, the roof is on fire!

I’ve been unintentionally avoiding Batman: Arkham Origins. Perhaps subconsciously its prequel, not-Rocksteady-developed nature has kept me from getting fully excited. After properly sitting down with this new trailer, however, I’m back to being invested. The “Nowhere to Run” trailer offers a first look at villain Firefly, while giving the rest of Batman’s rogues gallery ample face time as well. Speaking of face time, you can also see a mask-less Deathstroke.

I’m digging this incarnation of Firefly. I don’t know the character that well, but he seems like something out of Metal Gear Solid here. Maybe a bit of Arkham‘s Scarecrow thrown in, minus the drug trip. It’s cool to see someone who can menace Batman a bit rather than right mano-a-mano.

Plus, the premise is fantastic. Eight assassins are set upon Batman on Christmas Eve? It’s like Die Hard in Gotham. It’s also novel seeing the Arkham version of the typical Batman origin story — early brushes with Commissioner Gordon and all that. The scuffs with Alfred were nice, too. Not sure how much love the story can get, especially with all the villains to jam in, but it should be neat.

Who’s your favorite villain in the cabal?
