Did Suda 51 just unveil No More Heroes 3?

Killer is Dead hasn’t even hit shelves and Grasshopper Manufacture is already teasing its next project. Speaking with Famitsu, studio boss Goichi Suda showcased some concept art for an unannounced action title that looks to feature a familiar face.

Drawn by No More Heroes artist Yusuku Kozaki, the images feature a darker atmosphere, evoking a much more somber mood than, say, Lollipop Chainsaw. Said to feature a female protagonist, it seems as though one of the characters might be Shinobu, one of the katana-wielding assassins from No More Heroes.

It could just be a coincidence but, given Grasshopper was just acquired by GungHo Online, it wouldn’t seem all too outrageous for the new parent company to push Suda toward revisiting his most successful franchise. Aside from that, details are pretty scarce at present. The title will feature an online component, which isn’t surprising considering GungHo’s involvement. It sounds like we’ll know more in autumn.
