3DS XL ‘ending production soon’ in Japan

Make way for New 3DS

With the release of the New Nintendo 3DS, which pushed 230,000 combined XL and regular-sized units in its launch week, it seems that Nintendo will stop manufacturing the Old 3DS XL in Japan. On its website, as spotted by CVG, Nintendo notes, “ending production soon” above all Old 3DS models.

The original 3DS doesn’t have such a claim affixed, but given that the new 3DS comes in an original-sized model and an XL-sized model, it would make sense both handhelds cede to this new, prettier one.

The New 3DS is coming to Europe and North America in 2015 and the smaller one is prettier.
