Batman: Arkham Knight: Batmobile can transform into a freakin' tank! photo
Batman: Arkham Knight: Batmobile can transform into a freakin' tank!
by Dale North

We gave you our impressions from the very first look at Batman: Arkham Knight back in March, but now we're back with a twist. That Batmobile we talked so much about? Yeah, it's great. Cruisin' around Gotham and blowing up sh*t is never going to be anything but great. But they were holding out on us:

The Batmobile can transform into a freakin' tank!

Tuesday Newsday: Battlefield Hardline, The Order: 1886, The Evil Within, and LEGO Batman 3
by Max Scoville

Today on Tuesday Newsday, we go over two games that Brett Makedonski previewed, which have both been delayed, The Order: 1886 and The Evil Within. The new Battlefield is Hardline, seemingly a cops and robbers theme rather than the usual military approach. LEGO Batman 3: Beyond Gotham has been announced, MapleStory 2 shows off its first gameplay, Star Wars: Attack Squadrons is cancelled, and Spintires is all about mud and dubstep, apparently. Video games.

Scarecrow returns in this first Batman: Arkham Knight gameplay footage

The screenshots were nice, but we're on to bigger and better with this footage of Batman: Arkham Knight. I vaguely recall there being a tease in Arkham City concerning the return of Scarecrow, and sure enough he's back with ...

Batman: Assault on Arkham swooping out to save Gotham August 12

Wait! I still haven't gotten to watch Son of Batman! A new Batman animated feature film is releasing August 12, 2014: Batman: Assault on Arkham, on Blu-ray and DVD. Honestly, it looks to be one of the best animated films in t...

Batman goes to Chinatown in Arkham Knight

Rocksteady Studios has been tweeting images of Batman: Arkham Knight and I'm still smitten. We've got the pointy-eared Dark Knight in Chinatown, Harley Quinn pulling off her best Joker impersonation, and a Riddler Challenge w...

Review: Batman: Arkham Origins: Cold, Cold Heart photo
Review: Batman: Arkham Origins: Cold, Cold Heart
by Chris Carter

So far, the Batman Arkham Origins Season Pass has been a steaming pile of poop. Buyers have received some extremely underwhelming skin packs, and a piss-poor series of challenge maps for their cash, with the promise of another "story" addition down the line.

When I heard that said story DLC would feature Mr. Freeze however, I couldn't help but at least get marginally excited. As one of my favorite villains in all of Batman lore, it would be really hard to screw up a narrative involving the iconic frozen doctor.

Batman: Arkham Origins Cold, Cold Heart DLC launched

The next bit of additional content for Batman: Arkham Origins has released today and I'm personally hoping that they deliver when it comes to Victor Fries. I find him to be criminally under-appreciated as a villain for ...

Here's a half hour of the Arkham Origins Mr. Freeze DLC, if you want to watch that

I've never quite understood why people want to watch extended gameplay videos of upcoming content. I mean, if you're excited and want to play it, why would you want to spoil a long chunk of it? Conversely, if you couldn't ca...

Batman goes all Iron Man in the Arkham Origins Mr. Freeze DLC

DC All Access is showing off what we can expect out of the Batman: Arkham Origins "Cold, Cold Heart" downloadable content, and it looks like DC is taking a page out of Iron Man's playbook. To deal with Mr. Freeze, Batman wil...

Mercenary Kings, Batman: Arkham City free for PlayStation Plus photo
Mercenary Kings, Batman: Arkham City free for PlayStation Plus
by Steven Hansen

I kept forgetting to buy into Mercenary Kings' Early Access, but now who's the shrewd consumer, huh? Mercenary Kings is going to be free with PlayStation Plus tomorrow. Oh, on PS4? Damn. Almost.

Meanwhile, PS3 owners get to take advantage of Arkham Knight hype and play what is definitely the most recent Batman game, I don't know of any other Batman game that has released since Arkham City, no sir.

There will also be a bunch of Amazing Spiderman junk on sale. Ew, spider junk.

DTOID News: Arkham Knights, Watchdogs, Goats and Ninja Turtles photo
DTOID News: Arkham Knights, Watchdogs, Goats and Ninja Turtles
by Max Scoville

Today, I can finally talk about my impressions of Batman: Arkham Knight, which I saw back and GDC. There’s some new stuff about Watchdogs that’s actually gotten my attention, Sonic has Zelda-themed DLC, Fulgore’s in Killer Instinct finally, Goat Simulator rules, and Michael Bay’s Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles looks exactly as idiotic as a reasonable person would expect such a thing to be.

These Batman: Arkham Knight screenshots are eye candy

The two big things to know about Batman: Arkham Knight are that you can drive the Batmobile, and there's a new villain -- the titular Arkham Knight -- created by Rocksteady, Geoff Johns, and Jim Lee. If you need more to go on...

Arkham Knight has the right playground for Batman's new toys photo
Arkham Knight has the right playground for Batman's new toys
by Brett Makedonski

Rocksteady Studios has found itself in a somewhat precarious position with Arkham Knight. The team's two previous installments in the series are so universally revered that it begs the question "What can it do to live up to, and surpass, Arkham Asylum and Arkham City?" Rocksteady's opted to take the path of increasing the scope of everything and changing the formulaic approach to some of the series' conventions. It remains to be seen how well it'll work.

Arkham Knight is the first in the "Rocksteady Trilogy" (this term kept coming up, presumably to distance themselves from Arkham Origins) to give Batman free rein of Gotham City. The plot device driving this iteration is that Scarecrow has threatened to release a fear toxin so the entirety of the city has been evacuated. Well, except for all the thugs, criminals, and super villains that refuse to leave. They'll be Batman's punching bags en route to finding Scarecrow.

If this version of Gotham City sounds like semi-familiar territory, that's because it kind of is. The cynically analytical might say this walled-off playground full of baddies smacks of Arkham City with skyscrapers. The optimist might suggest that this added verticality is a welcomed progression for the series.

Arkham Knight, Goat Simulator, Shaq-Fu 2 & The Last of Us: The Movie photo
Arkham Knight, Goat Simulator, Shaq-Fu 2 & The Last of Us: The Movie
by Max Scoville

Sweet Christmas do we have some great news about video games today!

Let’s see… My previews for Metal Gear Solid V: Ground Zeroes went up, a new Batman game was announced by Rocksteady, Batman: Arkham Knight, Watch Dogs finally has a release date, and there’s a new Dragon Age: Inquisition trailer. On a less fun note, Mad Catz announced a partnership with Ouya, and on a downright depressing note, Disney Interactive has laid off 700 employees.

However, there’s a bunch of crazy weird news: Shaq-Fu is (hopefully) getting a sequel, Goat Simulator is going to be an actual game, and Akiba’s Trip 2, a Japanese game about punching vampires till their clothes come off, will actually be released in the west. Finally, a couple pieces of movie news: there’s feature film in the works based on The Last of Us, which seems sort of redundant to me, but that new Transformers movie involves Optimus Prime living in Mark Wahlberg’s barn, which is even more ridiculous than robot dinosaurs.
