Is it too late to start playing Helldivers 2?

Super Earth needs you, citizen!

Helldivers 2 was released way back in February, and the hype around the game has been huge. Unfortunately, I missed the launch, and have spent weeks looking enviously at everyone having fun, wondering if I had lost out on the experience. If you’re in the same boat, I took the plunge to find out if we’re truly too late for Helldivers 2.

If you’ve been on X, formerly Twitter, or Reddit over the past couple of months, it’s been impossible to miss gamers talking about the war for Super Earth, or encouraging each to keep going in the fight to bring Managed Democracy to all.

Truthfully, I knew nothing about Helldivers 2 when it launched, and quickly decided it just “wasn’t for me.” As the weeks went on though, I started paying attention to the community, watching streams, and thinking about buying it for myself. Now, I can tell you whether you’ve missed your chance to fight for Super Earth and perform your duty.

Is it too late to play Helldivers 2?

No, it’s not too late to play Helldivers 2! Every Super Earth citizen is critical to the war effort, so don’t worry if you’re a new cadet joining the ranks, as there are plenty of battles to be won!

Now, let me be honest, it will take some getting used to the first time you jump in. Navigating around the war effort from the map can be a little confusing, and the action is thick and fast when you’re on the ground. All I’ve been doing is jumping into quickplay lobbies, and helping out fellow Divers who are struggling.

In my first night, I ended up playing with a squad of level 5s, who took me under their wing and helped me complete a couple of missions. One of the best things about Helldivers 2 is the community, and so far I’ve encountered helpful gamers who want to succeed as badly as you do.

Two months in, there’s still so much to learn about the world too. From players suggesting that the enemy Automatons could be Super Earth citizens encased in metal suits against their wills, to the theory that we should expect a total narrative reset, the story of Helldivers 2 is not coming to an end, it’s only just beginning.

So, if you’ve been on the fence about buying the game, but are afraid you’re too late, I can assure you, it’s never too late to join the ranks. Helldivers 2 is ready and waiting for any Super Earth citizen who is willing to answer the call—if you’re brave enough to accept it.
