Zelda: Breath of the Wild Hylian text doesn’t hide any cool secrets

GOALPOINT

The Legend of Zelda takes place in the land of Hyrule, where text boxes serve as translator for us American, Japanese, et al folks. And that language shows up in the new The Breath of the Wild, but only to make mundane remarks look fantastical.

For example, shrines just have the word “DUNGEON” plastered over them. Those arcane characters at shrines’ end? They read, “GOALPOINT.”

You can catch more fan translation by way of NeoGAF and Zelda Universe. The “Now loading, Do not turn off your [console]” bit made me chuckle, at least.

Jordan and I played Breath of the Wild at E3, so do check out those expanded thoughts on the latest entry, which marks a huge departure in the Zelda formula. Hint: it’s more like Metal Gear Solid V this time.
