The Withered Knight is one of the more versatile roles in Mistfall Hunter, but it’s easy to make mistakes and get killed. With excellent damage, good tanking abilities, and varied builds, this class can be a good choice for plenty of players.
In this guide, I will help you figure out more about how to play the Withered Knight and also provide you with two different builds that you can use with the two available weapon sets.

Mistfall Hunter Withered Knight class overview
At first glance, the Withered Knight might appear to be an exact replica of the Mercenary, but the two classes could not have been more different. While Mercenary is a more straightforward class in terms of its kit, the Withered Knight works with the Wither mechanism.
This makes the class extremely aggressive, but have to learn how to time your attacks to inflict Wither at the proper times and then change the combos. Failure to do so will mean that you will always be wasting this class’s potential.
Before I deep dive into the two builds, let me quickly go through the pros and cons you can expect with this class.

- Repetitive gameplay since you’ll be using the same combos in every round
Like all classes, the Withered Knight has its pros and cons. That said, it’s a really fun class once you get the hang of the combos. It will take you some time to learn how the skills work. Once you master them, you can easily carry your team or act as the defensive anchor.
First, we will go through a build that really works well in solos.
Best Solo Withered Knight build in Mistfall Hunter
When you are playing solo, your role as the Withered Knight is to do as much damage as possible. Defense becomes secondary, since killing the enemies will be your priority. The best weapon for playing alone is the Greatsword, since it raises your damage potential.
Here are some of the key skills to use:
- Parry: if you are using the Greatsword, you don’t have a shield. Parry becomes a must-have because it will be your key defensive maneuver. The stuns last up to 5 seconds, or until you parry 5 attacks. If you manage to parry an enemy successfully, you can then perform different branch attacks with your mouse buttons. This will be the perfect setup for your different combos.
- Radiant Retribution: for the second slot, this is the best pickup you can have. You rapidly swing your Greatsword and perform three wide slashes in quick time. Each successful hit counts as a light strike and charges your weapon. Once it’s fully charged, if you manage to land three strikes, it will apply judgment on the target, and you also gain super armor for a brief period. Hence, it is a perfect blend of both offense and defense. When we apply judgment on an enemy after three successful hits, it will gain Wither from each subsequent hit.
- Breakthrough Charge: for the final slot, Breakthrough Charge is always a great option. First, you use your sword to thrust forward, and when you are recovering, you can press either the left mouse button or the right mouse button to perform a branch attack. When you do so, you can dash either towards your left or towards the right while sweeping enemies caught in the radius of your sword. This helps with the mobility issue you can encounter with the Withered Knight. The haphazard movement also means that your enemies can’t truly predict in which direction you are about to move.
Here are some of the main Talents to apply with this build
- Crime: executing enemies with your Greatsword no longer consumes your Wither, which will also apply for a longer period of time. This is a must-have with any Withered Knight build.
- Bad Karma: allows you to apply more linked debuffs when executing an enemy with your Great Sword. Works extremely well with Crime.
These two talents allow you to chain your heavy attacks consecutively, catching enemies unawares.
- Endless Flow: Reduces the cooldown for all your skills.
- Righteous Creed: Your Physical Damage rises briefly after a successful execution.
Best Trio Withered Knight build in Mistfall Hunter
When playing in Trios, becoming a defensive anchor for your team is a good choice. There are very few classes that can achieve that, which puts you in a unique situation. For this build, we will switch to Polearm and Shield instead of relying on our Greatsword. While you give up on your attacking potential on one hand, you gain better defensive abilities.
- Javelin Thrust: you can throw your javelin towards an enemy, and it will apply Wither upon impact. If you manage to strike the enemy successfully, it will leap to the target and pull out the spear while landing a sweeping strike, which deals a lot of damage.
- Spear Barrage: Use your spear to thrust forward and bring down the enemy. If you manage to do that successfully, you will inflict Judgment.
- Intervene: For the final slot, you can use Intervene to rush forward and release an energy pulse that grants shield to your parries and knocks back enemies. You’ll also gain Super Armor for a brief period.
When it comes to the Talents, we will continue using both Endless Flow and Righteous Creed since both of them also work well with the Polearm and Shield. Here are the key changes to make.
- Endless Flow: allows you to consume more energy but continue with the forward thrust of your spears. This is a must-have if you have Spear Barrage.
- Momentum Shift: since dodges are so important in the current meta, having the ability to perform more of them during your charge dash with the shield is always useful.
Best Withered Knight weapons and affixes in Mistfall Hunter
Unlike the two builds I’ve mentioned above, the affixes for your weapons and gear remain consistent, irrespective of the rules. There will be a few changes that I have mentioned, but it will be the same options for both builds.
- Burst: Raises your Execution damage and works well with all Withered Knight builds.
- Aegis: Raises your defense and also increases your physical resistance. Essential for tank builds.
- Tenacious: Increases your maximum health and also provides increased healing.
- Valor: Raises your attack and also buffs your defense penetration at a certain level.
