You can now relive Call of Duty 2 on Xbox One

I remember basically none of it

Folks have politely and sometimes not-so-politely asked the powers that be to get Call of Duty: Black Ops II playable on Xbox One. It’s among the most-requested games, if not number-one.

First, there was Black Ops — it joined the backward-compatibility list in May. And now, as of today, there’s also Xbox One support for Call of Duty 2. It’s as if we’ve asked our dear grandparents for a particular game for Christmas and despite the best of intentions, something went wrong along the way.

That said, I think this’ll be a good get. While 2005 wasn’t that long ago, given this series’ trajectory over the past decade, Call of Duty 2 can look and feel like a precious relic from a bygone era.

It was one of the first Xbox 360 games I tried, right up there with the ill-fated Peter Jackson’s King Kong. With WWI and WWII regaining popularity in the genre, the timing here makes sense.
