With this Dragon Quest VIII story trailer, I can see why the game is so beloved

When it comes to the Dragon Quest franchise, my favorite RPG series, I’m a Johnny-come-lately. I didn’t get into it until the DS era when I picked up and subsequently fell head over heels for Dragon Quest Heroes: Rocket Slime. That was the gateway drug that got me hooked. Since then, I’ve bought just about every game in the series that’s been released on western shores.

Because of my tardiness to the Puff-Puff party, I’ve missed out on some of the best games in the franchise, so I’ve been told. Right now, I’m about halfway done with Dragon Quest VII on the 3DS and loving every moment of it. Next year, I’ll finally get my chance to play what’s been called by countless people is the best game in the series, Dragon Quest VIII. After seeing this 3DS story trailer, I can already tell I’m going to love it.

It just looks fun, don’t it? Dragon Quest VIII: Journey of the Cursed King for the Nintendo 3DS will release on January 20 in the US and EU.
