What is the song from the Diablo 4 trailer?

How many high-level discussions did it take to not use “Bad Guy?”

Diablo 4‘s launch trailer is here and like many, many, many….[pause]…many other dark and broody video game trailers, it uses a somber song from popular media to get its point across. If you had the song’s identity on the tip of your tongue, we’re here to help!

The song from the Diablo 4 launch trailer is “You Should See Me in a Crown” by Billie Eilish

Blizzard might have myriad problems right now from just about every angle, but they still shelled out the big bucks to get a Billie Eilish song for Diablo 4‘s inaugural trailer.  “You Should See Me in a Crown” was released in 2019 on the album When We All Fall Asleep, Where Do We Go? and it was one of the bigger tracks that catapulted the singer-songwriter to fame.

To say the reception has been polarizing would be an understatement. The song itself, which skews moody, fits the context of the album. But for a Diablo 4 trailer — even if the meaning of the song involves iconography like blood, and the concept of biding time before a grand takeover (which could be a parallel for many demon and immortal entities in the series) — it’s a bold choice that has people talking, at the very least.
