What is going to happen to Project Gotham Racing?

Recommended Videos

Well, Microsoft would tell you that nothing is going to happen to Project Gotham Racing, as PGR is a Microsoft-owned IP. Bizarre Creations will not be taking that with them in their move to Activision, and will instead be creating a new racing IP for Activision.

Project Gotham Racing is a signature racing franchise for Xbox 360 and Xbox LIVE and we plan to continue the series but we have nothing further to announce,” said Microsoft in a statement.

This means that Project Gotham Racing 5 (or whatever) will probably be brought to us by some new team under Microsoft’s belt.

So what is Bizarre Creations about to work on? It’s not clear yet, but 1UP points to an interesting prediction by Level Up’s N’Gai Croal, which says that Activision may want in on the popular Need for Speed-type street racing game, and Bizarre Creations would be their ticket in.

If it were up to me, they’d have Bizarre stick to their guns, improve on the PGR formula, and then take it multiplatform.
