False accusations of hacking

A 17-year-old Korean girl who goes by Gegury is ranked as Overwatch‘s 8th best player in the world. She’s so good, seemingly from out of nowhere, that, “After winning the qualifiers for the Nexus Cup defeating many of the Korean powerhouse teams, the opposing team required Artisan to report Gegury to Blizzard Korea,” according to Reddit’s Calycae.

Two Korean pros, ELTA and Strobe from Dizziness, even announced that they would quit playing the game professionally if she wasn’t hacking.

Pride, fall.

Blizzard Korea came back to announce that Gegury was legit the realness. She even went live on video to demonstrate her skills while wearing a mask to protect her identity.  Worn down by the emotional turbulence of the unwarranted accusations levied against her, she ends up crying towards the end. Still, she came out vindicated, and has received a lot of support.

The two professional players who were so sure she was cheating? They quit the scene.
