Missing the golden days of the PS1? You’re not alone, and I have some amazing news. You now have the Pardall Games Library, a website that lets players revisit their favorite PS1 characters in glorious HD.
One of the most unique aspects of the PS1 was the massification of 3D models in video games, which would go on to become the norm across all consoles as the console exploded in popularity. Still, the assets of PlayStation, Nintendo 64, and the Sega Saturn classics were trapped on their old discs. Not anymore, though, as hardcore fan Alfred Baudisch took it upon himself to dive deep into the old titles and retrieve loads of 3D assets that you can now see, either in static mode or while performing any of the animations from their games.
You can even get a great look at one specific character, or at a lot of them at the same time, if you’d like. That’s because of the website’s “arena”, one of the many excellent display features that you can use to look at these models like never before.
This doubles as a great tool to create your own personalized HD screenshots of characters you could only have seen in very limited angles, which, yeah, means you can now create alternate timelines to some of your favorite games.
Pardall Games is a new effort, but it already features over 3,500 3D assets from seven classics, which include Virtua Fighter, Final Fantasy 7, Metal Gear Solid, Resident Evil 2, and King’s Field. I can’t wait to see what he’ll be adding to the roster next.
