The Weekend Hotness: Dragon Ball Z: Battle of Gods

After 17 years, Dragon Ball returns to the big screen with a brand new Z movie entitled Battle of Gods. The film was announced last summer, but I can guarantee that unless you hit up Dragon Ball fan sites hardcore, you were completely unaware, as was I until a few weeks ago. With the March 30 release date approaching, I’m getting psyched by re-watching the trailer and gathering as much info as I can, feeling slightly annoyed by Funimation’s silence on localization prospects.

Taking place during the decade between Buu’s defeat and the final chapters / episodes of the series, Battle of Gods raises the stakes so friggin’ high that the writers have effectively backed themselves into a corner should they ever plan another movie. The villain this time is the God of Destruction, the chaotic half of the creation cycle that keeps the universe in order. His status places him far above the Kais, who are effectively useless as it turns out. Plus he looks like an Egyptian cat diety, which is both hilarious and badass at the same time.

This weekend, Jim Sterling coins “Fee-to-Pay” and sorta reviews the PC version of DmC; Spencer Hayes asks what Street Fighter means to you; Sup, Holmes? welcomes The Stanley Parable‘s Davey Wreden; we pump out reviews for Westerado, Might & Magic: Clash of Heroes on iOS, and DJMAX Technika Tune; and Nintendo of Europe sucks.
