The Question: Does The Legend of Zelda need an overhaul?

Recommended Videos

[Every Friday, Destructoid will pose topical a question to the community. Answer it if you want!]

I love the Legend of Zelda series. To me, I’ve never had a problem that, structurally, it’s the almost the same game over and over again, with tweaks to the story and some incremental features. To me, it’s the flavor of the experience that changes, not the foundation.

My belief is not the only one, however. Some are sick of the series. They think it’s gone stale, that repeating the same structure has grown tiring, and things need severe shaking up. There are many that argue for an overhaul, or even the death of the games.

I’d say both sides of the argument have points to make, so which side of the fence do you fall on? Are you happy with Zelda retreading familiar ground, or do you wish things would be different? Are you more extreme than that? Do you think the series doesn’t retread old ground, or conversely, that it deserves to be executed?

That is the question this week. Zelda‘s current format — yay or nay?
