Swapnote for 3DS suspended over ‘offensive material’

Are you being naughty, 3DS users?

Swapnote, Nintendo’s drawing and messaging program for 3DS, has been suspended as of yesterday. They’re concerned about the sharing of “offensive material” over the service.

According to Nintendo’s notice, users, including minors, have been exchanging friend codes on the internet, and then using Swapnote to share offensive material with each other. Nintendo feels that plugging the SpotPass feature of Swapnote is best for halting misuse.

We are very sorry for any inconvenience to the many consumers who have been using this service responsibly; however this decision was made considering the point that many minors also use this feature of Swapnote. Thank you for your understanding.

I wish I could see some of these notes!
