Steam Deck reclaims its top spot, knocking Helldivers 2 down one place

"Get back down there!" - Steam Deck, probably.

It’s no secret that Helldivers 2 has enjoyed a large amount of success since it was released in February. In fact, it ended up knocking Steam Deck off the top place on Steam, something that doesn’t happen too often. However, Valve’s handheld PC has, once again, reclaimed its title.

As of right now, the Deck is back at the number one spot on the Top Sellers list, pushing Arrowhead Games’ shooter down to number two. According to the data, Helldivers 2 has been on the list for nine weeks, though a good chunk of that time has been spent looking down atop its gaming ivory tower.

Quite why the Steam Deck has managed to climb its way back up can’t be certain, but maybe it’ll lose its place when Arrowhead releases another update or something. The way things have been these past few weeks suggests it’s been a bit of a bout between software and hardware.

Deck the hells (yep, that’s clever)

Just yesterday, Steam announced the launch of Steam Families, a new feature on the platform that “introduces significant updates and improvements to family sharing, parental controls, and child purchase requests.” That could sort of explain why Deck has suddenly taken the lead again.

Looking at the Top Seller’s list in general, there are some perhaps-not-too-surprising resurgences at the moment. At the time of writing, Dead by Daylight has risen 23 places to take the number five spot, while Cyberpunk 2077 has climbed a pretty impressive 44 places this week, sitting comfortably at number eight.

Of course, the fact that these specific games are on sale can account for their sudden rise in popularity. Doesn’t take a huge amount of brain power to conclude that things suddenly become more appealing when they’re a bit cheaper.
