Square Enix releases new screenshots of The Last Remnant

Square Enix released several new screen shots from their upcoming game, The Last Remnant. All the screen shots are taken from the Tokyo Game Show trailer though, so you may recognize a few. The official game Web site also had some great screen shots, so I’ve added them to the gallery as well.

Created as a tradional RPG game with a twist, The Last Remnant allows you to control large ranks of troops and still play your character like a normal RPG. The story takes place on an island called Eulam which is inhabited by four races: Mitras, Yamas, Qsitis and Sovannis. Rush Sykes (the game’s main character) is on a mission to save his sister, who has been kidnapped by an evil organization. Soon, he finds himself in the middle of a global war that involves ancient artifacts known as Remnants.

Battle Grounds

It seems the power of remnants were originally used for the good of the people, but over time they changed the balance of power, and began a great war between those who ruled, and those who obeyed. This created a new era of countless battles by those who seek power. A thousand years later, Rush begins his journey to save his sister.

The Conqueror is the only main enemy revealed so far. He seeks the power of remnants, and will destroy anyone who gets in his way. Not much else is known about him yet.

The Conqueror

The Gae Blog is the only revealed Remnant so far; it’s a cannon-like machine that uses focus energy to blast the enemies in its path, and leave cities in ruin. For centuries, the Gae Blog has been in the hands of Athlum rulers. David Nassau is the current ruler of Athlum, and longs for his homeland to be free from the rule of Celapaleis.

David Nassau

David joins Rush in his journey, though he has his own motives for the journey.

Check out the gallery below for the newest screen shots from The Last Remnant, and I even threw in some desktop wallpapers from the official Web site.
