There have been previous whispers of Lenovo potentially gearing up to release a handheld gaming PC called the Legion Go that’ll compete with the Steam Deck and the ROG Ally. It has also been rumored that there will be Lenovo AR glasses released that’ll work with the handheld. More details have emerged, courtesy of Windows Report. If the report is true, we could have the device as early as October this year, though it’ll come with a hefty $799 price tag.
What you can expect from the Lenovo Legion Go
Windows Report claims to have received an official document that confirms many Lenovo Legion Go details. The upcoming device is going to be quite a big one sporting an 8.8-inch QHD+ screen. This is notably bigger than the Steam Deck and ROG Ally screens which are both 7 inches. It’ll also feature 16GB RAM, and come in three options featuring either 256GB, 512GB, or 1TB NVMe M.2 storage.
According to Windows Report, the Legion Go’s “battery of 49.2WHr is only marginally bigger than the competition” though it will “have Super Rapid Charge with 65W of fast charging” to limit how much time is spent plugged in. It’s also revealed that Lenovo will be using AMD RYZEN Z1 Series processors.
Like the ROG Ally, it’ll run Windows 11 Home by default, which should minimize any compatibility issues with games. The report suggests that the handheld will be leaning heavily into the Xbox gaming ecosystem, as the device will launch with 3 months of Xbox Game Pass Ultimate. A leaked trailer also gives off the same impression, as it features Xbox exclusives like Starfield and Hi-Fi Rush.

It appears that the Legion Go won’t be a lonely device, as Lenovo may have a few peripherals planned for it. This includes AR glasses that use OLED displays and can be connected to devices beyond the Legion Go. The report claims the glasses will launch in October at $499, which makes it pricier than the Quest 2 and puts it in the same price range as the PS VR2. There are also allegedly Lenovo Legion E510 7.1 RGB headsets in the works, and they’ll also launch in October.
The handheld gaming scene is quite lively this year. In addition to the Lenovo Legion Go, you can also expect the PlayStation Portal which will allow you to play your PlayStation games on the go via a dedicated remote play device.
