So, Battlefield 1, huh?

Back to WWI we go

[Update: You can read all about Battlefield 1 over here now that the official announcement has happened. It is, in fact, straight-up WWI. And there are horses! The game releases October 21, 2016, but folks who pre-order the $79.99 Deluxe Edition can start playing on October 18.]

At this rate, there won’t be much left for DICE to reveal during its “future of Battlefield” event happening at 1:00pm Pacific today (watch the stream here).

The first leak, which outed the new game’s key art and seemingly confirmed its WWI setting, happened on the Xbox One storefront of all places. Then someone let out a photograph of a promotional flier that honed in on its mildly annoying name, Battlefield 1, followed by another picture that gave away the early release date (October 18, 2016) and pre-order incentive (the Hellfighter Pack). The DLC contains “themed items inspired by the heroic Harlem Hellfighter infantry regiment,” which, hell yes.

This setting interests me way more than Infinite Warfare‘s far-flung future. I’m optimistic.
