The long-rumored high definition remake of Halo: Combat Evolved is a go, at least according to Joystiq’s sources.

Word has the game not simply being the original shooter running at higher resolution, but remade from the ground up using all new art assets. Other details see the game supporting updated Halo control configurations, full 1080p and 3D television support, and “likely” online co-op.

The title is expect to ship on the ten-year anniversary date of the original Halo: Combat Evolved, November 15, 2011. It’s reportedly being developed in the beautiful Garden State of New Jersey, at Saber Interactive, the folks responsible for TimeShift and Namco’s upcoming title, Inversion.

At the right price, there’s almost no way that this remake won’t be a blockbuster success for Microsoft. What would you be willing to pay for an “all new” version of a first-person shooter classic?
