Happy birthday, Resident Evil. You’re 30 now, so it’s high time you drank some adult beverages at hotels in Japan to celebrate.
It was revealed today that the iconic survival horror franchise is collaborating with the country’s Pasela Resorts in some really awesome ways, including special themed drink and food menus, post cards, and even J-pop and K-pop style photo cards sporting pictures of the series’ characters.

As gamers know by now, Japan usually gets the best kind of exclusive stuff, and this collab is no different. Pasela locations in Tokyo, Yokohama, and Osaka will be serving up some awesomely on brand drinks and dishes, like a mojito for Leon, a “Russian Herb Coke” for Chris, an Ada Wong sangria, and Jill Valentine chocolate tapioca drink.
Food-wise, it gets even weirder, with a curry themed around a zombie’s eye, and a honey toast with several gross-looking eyes that the franchise has become known for. My personal favorite, though, is the Umbrella logo-style margherita pizza and the antivirus-like Umbrella Corporation Parfait.
When purchasing a food item, there are 10 different and random postcards to come away with, featuring a design from all of the game’s mainline series entries, and one special design featuring the game’s protagonists specially made for the 30th anniversary.
But for me, as a K-pop fan, I can’t get over these photo cards that look a lot like something you get as a purchase or pre-order bonus for a new album release:

When purchasing a drink, guests will get one of these special trading cards, featuring a number of characters from the series. The usual suspects are here: Chris, Leon, Jill, Claire, Wesker, Ada. But then you have some real sleeper picks like Resident Evil 6’s Jake Muller and Piers Nivans (hello, Capcom, where is Sheva Alomar?!). I’m sure these will get scalped and re-sold online for exorbitant amounts of money, with Leon likely fetching the biggest price due to his popularity.
I’m only just a little bit bitter that Japan gets yet another awesome rollout of merch. But if you want to grab some fun drinks and food or just collect the cards, then the collab takes place from Oct. 13 to Dec. 7, so you have time to make some travel arrangements.
