As Variety reports, Donald Glover and his brother Stephen will produce and write the show, with the former starring and directing it on top. Ad Astra and Barbarian executive producer Michael Schaefer will join them, alongside Krafton’s own entertainment staff.

The show apparently hasn’t been greenlit and put into development just yet, and details of what it could be about remain scarce. However, PUBG itself was more than likely inspired by the Japanese film and book Battle Royale, which is more or less the origin point of the modern BR formula that found its way into a myriad of different pop-cultural projects, from YA dystopias like The Hunger Games to, well, PUBG, Fortnite, Call of Duty, and so many others.

Donald Glover is a reputable actor and producer, credited with creating Mr. & Mrs. Smith, as well as Atlanta, which he made alongside his brother Stephen. He starred in both shows and has appeared in many other films and series over the years.

PUBG first came out in 2017 as a revolutionary battle-royale game, which can safely be credited with starting the modern BR craze. It remains one of the most popular games in the world, and while it never had a huge story mode, it did have some lore and narrative tidbits about its world and its circumstances. Those could be blown up for the Netflix series, so there is some actual material to work with.
