I always warn people that make fun of Pokemon that they’re probably making fun of a game loved by someone they know. So many people love and play the everliving sh*t out of Nintendo’s Pokemon releases, so this sales data does not surprise me.
Nintendo says internal sales data shows 1.08 million copies of Pokemon Black & White were sold on the game’s U.S. launch day, March 6th. That beats the old record, set by Diamond & Pearl, which was still impressive at 780,000 copies in one day, says IGN.
When Black & White launched in Japan, it sold 2.5 million copies in a day. I remember being here in Tokyo with Jonathan Holmes. He couldn’t find a copy. It was by luck one day while we were shopping for retro games that he saw a clerk unloading a box. He ran up and got his copy.
