Overwatch’s Lunar New Year event is now live

Includes a new capture the flag game mode

As promised, the new content in Overwatch celebrating Lunar New Year is now playable on all platforms, and you’ll be able to earn cosmetic items that fit the theme for the next three weeks. Over 100 new sprays, emotes, skins, and highlight intros are available, including several legendary skins based on the characters in Journey to the West. Blizzard also posted some artwork based on the folktale, and I’d encourage everyone to check it out when you have a moment.

The event includes a new game type called “Capture the Rooster,” a variant of capture the flag modes found in other first-person shooters. I’d expect seeing these items to be a little more uncommon; I know that I spent all my in-game currency during the Winter event and haven’t had much of a chance to build up reserves again. You’ll be able to play this mode and earn Chinese New Year themed aesthetic items until February 13.
