Fortnite’s ongoing story currently involves a plot where the game’s characters could use the help of some additional heroes. The world could always use more of them, I’ve heard.
And that’s how four Overwatch characters have been introduced into the world of Fortnite as part of its current season’s Act Three events. OW heroes Tracer, D.Va, Mercy, and Genji will be joining the ever-growing ranks of cosmetic skins tomorrow.
But that’s not all. Epic Games says that tomorrow’s update will also add “new weapons, landmarks, and more Overwatch inspired fun as Act Three progresses,” including a new point of interest inspired by an original OW map from its 2016 launch, King’s Row.
A mega bundle including all cosmetics includes four skins, four backblings, four pickaxes, one glider, three emotes, a wrap, and a loading screen. And it’ll likely cost quite a bit of V-Bucks, but thankfully you can buy each skin individually if you only want to rep your main.
Luxury car brand Porsche is joining in on the festivities, too, as an extension of a years-old brand collab with Overwatch that included skins for D.Va and Pharah. The Porsche Cayenne Turbo Electric + Overwatch Bundle will include a vehicle body, decals, and wheels.
The OW Fortnite collab leaked months ago, and leakers reported that it was going to launch some time in February, but it was apparently delayed to be included in this current “Showdown” season in Season 2 of the battle royale game’s Chapter 7. I think this scenario works out just fine, personally.
I have been out of the loop on Fortnite for a few months now, but I’ll probably download the update to check out the Overwatch stuff tomorrow when it goes live. I think these four specific heroes are a pretty good representation of the franchise, which is celebrating its 10th anniversary this year.
