I was lucky enough to catch up with James Swirkski and Lisanne Pajot, the directors of Indie Game: The Movie, at a recent screening of their film. For reasons that will make themselves clear in the video, I didn’t want to interview them that night. In the end, I was glad that I did.
Lisanne and James were open and honest about their experience with bringing to film to fruition from its humble beginnings as a Kickstarter project, how they’re staffing the tour almost single-handedly, the potential for the film to see wide release (coming to a city near you on May 18th!), plans for a DVD release, their thoughts on the whole Phil Fish media explosion from a few weeks back, and a lot more.
If video watching isn’t you thing, I encourage you to keep a close eye on the official Indie Game: The Movie website, as that’s the best place to find your next chance to see this amazing film. I went into it expecting a lot, but I didn’t think I’d see members of the audience moved to tears. However, that’s exactly what happened. The amount of empathy that Lisanne and James felt for their subject matter, and were able to then instill in the audience, was nothing short of astounding.
