Not this again: Thief is 900p on Xbox One, 1080p on PS4

What’s the issue?

Just yesterday we learned that yet another Xbox One game is going to have a lower resolution than its PS4 counterpart, and here we are again with Thief. Square Enix has recently noted that Thief will run at 1080p on the PS4, and 900p on the Xbox One. Both will run at 30fps.

Thief‘s director defended the Xbox One though, noting that “you really need good eyes to see the difference.” He also stated that the previous generations (360 and PS3) look fine, and that the newer consoles just have a little more detail and special effects.

The funny thing is I’m actually playing Thief right now on the Xbox One, and it looks fantastic. But consistently performing underneath the PS4’s standards of resolution can’t look good for Microsoft. They need to address this disparity sooner than later.
