There’s reason to look forward to next year, however
We’re a week out from EA Play Live, the publisher’s big summer showcase to highlight its upcoming slate of games. Today, Electronic Arts got out ahead of the show to confirm there won’t be new Star Wars games to spotlight, but it left the door open for more to come in the future.
On Twitter, EA confirmed that it won’t be showing any new Star Wars games during the EA Play Live stream next week. However, there’s a little addendum: “… but all of us look forward to celebrating with you next year when we share our vision for the Galaxy far, far away!”
We wonāt be showing any new Star Wars games at EA Play Live on July 22ndā¦but all of us look forward to celebrating with you next year when we share our vision for the Galaxy far, far away!

We’ve already got some news regarding whatĀ Star Wars: The Old RepublicĀ is up to, with its upcoming expansionĀ Legacy of the Sith coming later this holiday season. But that’s a pre-existing game; if you were hoping for, say, a new Star Wars JediĀ game, it looks like that won’t be shown off this year.
EA Play Live is set to broadcast on July 22, to showcase the upcoming lineup of EA games.Ā Battlefield 2042Ā is an obvious shoe-in, as well as this year’s slate of sports games, but EA has also been setting some expectations for what’s to be shown off. RPG studio BioWare has also confirmed it won’t be showing off its new entries in theĀ Mass EffectĀ andĀ Dragon AgeĀ series at EA Play Live this year. SorryĀ Dragon AgeĀ fans, we are once again getting by on what we’ve got.
Of course, there’s always some rumors too. Recent reports indicated thatĀ Dead SpaceĀ might be making a comeback, and frankly, I’m very into the idea of returning to the horrors of space.
We’ll see what the publisher has in store on July 22. The pre-show kicks off at 10 a.m. PT.
