No Man’s Sky just received yet another big update, which is of course free of charge, and it’s not even been two months since the last one dropped. Themed after horror and the spirit of Halloween, this new update brings cosmic terrors into the mix, allowing players to uncover dreadful mysteries among the stars.

As confirmed today by Hello Games, NMS‘s new update, Forsaken, is now available to everyone free of charge. The patch introduces Haunting Mementos – “bizarre, horrifying biological samples” – that players can find if they dare tread into the “spookiest regions of the universe.” Hull wrecks, infested outposts, derelict freighters, and dig sites contain these strange amalgams of matter which can be exchanged for a variety of unique corvette modules.

However, players venturing too deep into the far edges of space can encounter horrifying creatures emerging from the outer rim of reality.

The update adds a ton of additional content, including a Larva Cannon, also obtained via the strange new traders, a minimal HUD mode, a bunch of new modules, cockpits, and interiors, a new and intuitive weapon selection screen, and one of my personal long-awaited features: seamless interstellar travel. Simply aim at a nearby star system and warp to it without having to go into the galaxy map. Each patch gets us closer to what Hello Games first envisioned for No Man’s Sky in 2016, and I couldn’t be happier.

As always, the patch simply adds too much to be put into one quick news blurb, so you can check out the full notes here.
