No Australian-based servers at launch for Titanfall

Microsoft currently building servers for AU

Dtoid reader Dont Taze Me Bro reached out to me recently to bring to attention the current situation regarding Titanfall’s performance for users trying to play in Australia. As it turns out, those that have been playing in the beta have discovered that they are connecting to servers based in East Asia or South East Asia, as there are no local servers at present.

“As someone who lives on the East Coast (Sydney) that means 135 – 170 ms [ping],” Donttazemebro told me. “Not ideal, but still playable … We’re used to being screwed over my MMOs, but a fast action paced shooter is a different matter. A higher latency does matter.”

Respawn community manager Abbie Heppe was asked direct by another Australian-based player, and she stated that Microsoft “is building servers there now.” Multiple threads have been started regarding the issue in Respawn’s forums, and this specific thread has been created to consolidate everything regarding Australian players. That will be the best place to voice your concerns.

While it’s a shame there won’t be local servers at launch, they are on the way at least, though no specific time frame was given as to when exactly.
