New Dota 2 Compendium revealed, up to $15M in stretch goals

Hot off a game-changing patch

The newest Dota 2 Interactive Compendium has been revealed for this year’s upcoming International tournament. Just as in past years, 25% of each Compendium purchase goes towards the prize pool and stretch goals. This year, the highest goal is placed at $15 million, which is a little over $4 million more than last year’s final tally of $10,931,105.

New this year are challenges and coins. Challenges are small goals to accomplish in-game, and doing so awards coins. These coins can then be spent on item or set drops. Coins will also drop on their own, and players can purchase Coin Charms and Coin Boosters to help speed up the process. I’m a bit worried that giving players specific goals will alter gameplay enough to be annoying, but we’ll see how it plays out.

All of this is fresh off of patch 6.84, which has drastically changed the game. Every Hero now has an Ultimate Ability that can be upgraded by the Aghanim’s Scepter item, and Alchemist can even GIVE someone an upgraded Ultimate. Also, seven new items were added to the game. SEVEN!

So, are the stretch goals for this year enticing enough to get you to buy in? Also, let’s chat about these INSANE 6.84 changes!
