Multiplatform Final Fantasy XIII not a ‘betrayal’

Oh, silly Square Enix, naively attempting to appeal to fanboys with logic. Square Enix has recently addressed accusations of treachery from stupid PlayStation 3 fans who threw a hissy fit when they found out that Final Fantasy XIII was going to appear on the Xbox 360 as well as PS3. Using basic logic, the company has attempted to penetrate the thick skull of the average PS3 obsessive. A noble goal.

“I’d rather they not think of [Final Fantasy XIII on Xbox 360] as a ‘betrayal’ or disappointment,” explained Square Enix Corporate Director Shinji Hashimoto. “It’s not like we’re cancelling or delaying the PS3 version at all! It’s more of an added bonus for 360 fans. We won’t be putting them at a disadvantage in any way.”

Fairly simple stuff, but I doubt it will do much to persuade the kind of selfish moron who got melodramatically upset over this. Hashimoto also addressed, for the millionth time, the belief that the PS3 version will be “downgraded” so it can be ported to the 360. Are people still seriously whimpering about that? Apparently so.

“I’d like to add… I think that maybe because it’s going multiplatform that some fans are worried about the game’s scope being reduced to fit onto both consoles,” stated Hashimoto. “The fact is, the PS3 version is what’s in development right now, and the team is working to specialize that version to the very best of the PS3’s abilities.”

Something most sensible people knew already, but I guess we need to reiterate it for those at the back of the class.
