Monster Hunter is getting a Hollywood adaptation

Danny DeVito for the main Felyne?

During Capcom’s TGS presentation for Monster Hunter Stories, producer Ryozo Tsujimoto kind of just dropped a bomb on the audience — “there’s a Hollywood adaptation of Monster Hunter in progress,” he said. Uh, okay!

Although it was during the Stories block it won’t be related to that subseries, Tsujimoto clarified, but it is supposedly happening. We’ve reached out to Capcom for more information to see if it’s just the developmental stages or if it’s actually in full production.

With the right kind of CGI I can see it being a good popcorn flick. Plus, if Capcom was going to get into the movie business with any of its properties, it would be what essentially amounts to a Kaiju movie (remember that Heath Ledger Onimusha film in progress though?). Maybe it can cross over with Pacific Rim?
