Justice is served with lovely new hand-drawn art
[Update: MSF! HD director Austin Ivansmith was notified that the game is a launch day title. So… YAY!]
It totally slipped my mind that Mighty Switch Force! was being dolled up for the Wii U eShop. Thankfully, WayForward gave us a friendly reminder in the form of a new trailer.
The full title reads Mighty Switch Force! Hyper Drive Edition. True to the subtitle, all 21 regular and downloadable levels from the 3DS original return as “Hyper” versions of their earlier incarnations, promising greater challenge. The pixel sprites are sadly gone, only to be replaced by incredible hand-drawn graphics that better reflect the game’s concept art. The new visuals render at a crisp 1080p, but you can choose to move the action to the GamePad for off-TV play.
It doesn’t sound like Mighty Switch Force! Hyper Drive Edition will arrive at launch — the Nintendo eShop page lists the release date as “TBD.” Hopefully, we won’t have to wait too much longer. I’m ready to double-dip!
