Microsoft will be expanding Xbox Game Pass support on PC

Sounds good to me

Microsoft CEO Satya Nadella has announced that Microsoft intends to expand the “Xbox Game Pass” program to the PC platform. In its FY19 Q1 earnings report, Microsoft noted increased growth with gaming revenue rising by around 44%. Xbox software and services earnings increased by around 36%. This led to a discussion of the cross-platform presence of the Xbox brand and how Xbox Game Pass has been very successful for the company.

With that, Nadella stated Xbox Game Pass will be coming to PC in the future. If that sounds familiar, it is because the service is sort of on PC at the moment. During E3 this year, Microsoft vowed to bring all first-party titles to Game Pass on launch day. With that announcement, a bunch of first-party titles were added to the service and many of those fell under the “Xbox Play Anywhere” label. Play Anywhere grants users access to the PC version with a digital copy, so a bunch of titles like Forza Horizon 3 and Gears of War 4 were included on PC with the $10 monthly subscription to Game Pass.

I even tested it out with my friend, playing Gears 4 during a free trial period despite not owning an Xbox One. It only makes sense that Microsoft would expand the service to Windows 10, considering it operates the Windows Store by itself. Putting a bigger emphasis on PC gives someone like me a reason to take an interest since I was considering grabbing a year subscription to the service just to try Forza Horizon 4.

With all of that said, Nadella didn’t give a timeframe for when Game Pass would be hitting PC. I would imagine it will be fully operable before the launch of Halo Infinite, whenever that is.
