Microsoft has announced the latest iterations of its tablets — the Surface 2 and Surface Pro 2 — and they’re launching October 22, 2013 for $449 and $899, respectively. The devices will debut in 22 markets including the United States, Canada, and United Kingdom. Pre-orders open tomorrow morning at 8:00am Eastern.

What’s new? Notably, there’s been an increase in battery life (up to 10 hours for video playback), a revamped built-in kickstand that lets you rest the Surface 2 in two positions, 1080p support, USB 3.0, and an Nvidia Tegra 4 processor. The Surface Pro 2 has seen a 60 percent increase in battery life and uses an Intel i5 Haswell processor. There’s also loads of new accessories, including a docking station coming in early 2014.

This is still one of those things that I’d probably enjoy using if I ever got one, but I’ll never get one.
