Master Chief to stop by NASCAR’s Dover 400 before heading off to stores

Although Master Chief is going to have his hands full in the upcoming weeks, he’s still managed to lend his likeness to NASCAR driver David Stremme — in the form of a custom paint scheme for the up and coming Dover 400 race this fine September 23rd. As an avid Halo fan himself, David is thrilled to have the opportunity to have the Halo name on his car:

“I am honored and excited to be running the Halo 3 car at Dover, and can’t wait to show off this awesome paint scheme. It’s going to be a special experience when the car rolls off the truck for the first time at Dover — as a Halo fan, I’m thrilled.”

The good news doesn’t stop there, as select drivers will be given the opportunity to play the game before it’s released.  If none of this tickles your fancy, David Spade and R. Lee Ermey will be on tap to give the famous “start your engines” battle cry. Tragically, I’ll be stuck at work and won’t be able to witness the number 40 car “taking the fight” to the rest of the oval warriors (I’d be too busy cheering on Kevin Harvick, Dale Earnhardt Jr., or some other Chevy anyway), but it just goes to further show that the Halo hype machine is kicked into high gear. Hmm… I wonder how many NASCAR fans besides myself even care, and if this will detract from Nintendo’s showing at all?
