A being with the power to slay gods? Say it isn’t so! For a few heroes in Marvel Rivals, unfortunately, it is indeed a reality.

Currently listed as “missing” in-game, the Strategist hero and Asgardian god of mischief Loki is not currently playable. And it appears that the game’s newest hero Gorr the God Butcher has something to do with it. Yeah, that title tracks.

You may know Gorr from the movie Thor: Love & Thunder where he was portrayed by Christian Bale. Let’s hope he’s better utilized in Rivals than he was in that film, widely considered to be one of the MCU’s worst.

Here’s everything we know so far about what’s new and different in Marvel Rivals in season 10.

Marvel Rivals season 10 patch notes

Season 10 kicks off on Friday, Sept. 11, and Gorr the God Butcher joins the roster alongside it.

New hero: Gorr

Gorr is a Duelist hero, using the All-Black sword to deal damage to all those in his path. In the lore, he has become assimilated with symbiotes so he’s able to use them as a part of his kit. The sword he wields has the power to kill even gods, so Loki’s fate is a mystery for the time being, although I wouldn’t bet on him being truly “dead” forever.

But do not be surprised if more gods end up slain very soon. In the meantime, Yggsgard maps in-game have lost all of their color ahead of Gorr’s arrival on Friday. Very cool, and very fitting.

NetEase confirmed that Gorr is the only new hero launching this season, bucking a trend that’s been ongoing since almost the beginning of the game. This is to focus on ongoing development of the Avengers: Doomsday tie-in events still to come. Season 11 (likely beginning in November) will have two new heroes once more.

New map: God Quarry

This new Domination map is arriving on Sept. 24, but no other info was revealed yet.
