Magrunner: Add some Cthulhu to your future FPS puzzler

Robot dogs are still cool, no matter the ancient evil

After a successful crowdfunding campaign on Gamesplanet Labs, developer Frogwares is branching away from its line of adventure titles and exploring a different area with Magrunner. And what better place to start than the not too distant future where humanity may meet its doom at the hands of an Elder God, during a sporting event…let me explain.

The player is one of eight contestants tasked who must traverse several challenge rooms with the use of a unique glove that harnesses this new magnetic technology. All goes well until an earthquake strands the contestants inside the arena, without any contact to the outside world. There last chance to make it out alive is to brave this maddening labyrinth and the ancient horrors deep within.

There is no speculation as to whom you will be going up against — it appears in the poster artwork below, as well as on the developer web site. Yes, it will be everyone’s favorite tentacle-faced eldritch horror, Cthulhu.

So far, Magrunner has definitely got my attention with its interesting art style alone. Add in physics puzzles and Cthulhu, and you can sign me up! No word let on a release date, but Magrunner will be launching on PC, Xbox Live and the PlayStation Network.
